Our President and Chief Executive Officer: Jim McCarl

The McCarl Group provides strategic business planning, risk management advice and business seminars to help mechanical contractors, nonprofits and family-run businesses increase their performance and competitive advantage.

F. James (Jim) McCarl is a nationally known entrepreneur and business leader. As president and chief executive officer of The McCarl Group, LLC, McCarl helps businesses and nonprofit organizations maximize their potential.

His success strategies were developed over a 30-year career at the helm of McCarl's Inc., a family-owned construction business. Under his leadership, the company's annual sales grew to $60 million from $6 million, placing it in the top tier of mechanical contractors in the United States. McCarl also was founder and chief executive officer of Blackhawk Electric Construction, McCarl’s Process Systems and Mercury Recovery Services.

McCarl has served on the boards of over a dozen professional, cultural and nonprofit organizations, including Highmark Blue Cross of Pennsylvania, the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence, the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Business Advisory Council. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Pittsburgh, the Chief Executives Association, the World Presidents Organization and is Chairman of the Board of Gateway Bank of Pennsylvania.

McCarl’s civic leadership has been recognized with numerous awards, including the University of Pittsburgh Distinguished Alumnus Award and the ARC Beaver County Chapter Distinguished Community Service Award. In 2002, he received the Community Champion Award for Western Pennsylvania.
